POWERPOINT PROJECT
World Literature
Westrum
09/12/2011
Assignment:
Last week, we looked briefly at the literary lenses. As we continue to read Frankenstein, it’s time to continue this work. Using this basic information, each group will research and define one of these lenses, constructing a brief presentation of the assigned lens.
Your itinerary:
Each group will be assigned one lens from the following group: Marxism, post-colonial, reader-response, gender, deconstruction, and new criticism.
Groups will research their assigned lens and build a powerpoint in which they provide the class as a whole with a working understanding of its use. This powerpoint will be a MINIMUM of eight slides.
In addition to your definition, you will provide a brief history of the lens (how was it created, how is it used) and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, an application of this lens on a section of the novel Frankenstein.
This application will provide a thesis, three supporting details, and a conclusion about the “message” of the novel based upon the lens used.
On top of the powerpoint, each group will provide an artistic component: a poster defining your assigned lens. These posters will be displayed in the classroom as a good cheat-sheet for the classroom as a whole.
This project is due Thursday, September 15th, and will be presented on Thursday and Friday.
Your projects are worth 75 points, with extra credit available for creativity in presentation.
